The study of native (shown on the cover) and variant 
2-microglobulin by molecular dynamics simulation has revealed a striking similarity between the propensity for certain -strands to undergo transitions to 
-helices during simulation and the experimentally observed behaviour of the same strands. The relation of this behaviour to mechanisms of oligomerisation of 2-microglobulin and amyloid formation are discussed. For further details see Ma and Nussinov, pages 561-575.
